We hope you’ve all enjoyed a restful and creative summer! As always, the Forum takes a break during July and August — but now it’s time to gather again, reconnect, and kick off a brand‑new year of writing, community, and inspiration.

Monthly Meetings Resume September 12th

Our regular monthly meetings start back up on Saturday, September 12th, held at the Pilgrim Congregational Church on Foothill Blvd in Redding.
Please park in the lower parking lot.

  • Doors open: 10:00 AM
  • Meeting time: 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Potluck: All meetings are potluck-style. Members are invited to bring a snack to share.

This first meeting of the season is designed as a fun, casual welcome-back meet & greet. We’ll catch up after the summer break, play a few games, and dive into some lighthearted but challenging writing prompts. It’s a great chance to reconnect with familiar faces — and we encourage everyone to bring a guest who might enjoy the creative energy of our group.

Upcoming Event: Screenwriting Workshop with Paul Zeidman

We’re thrilled to announce a special all‑day workshop coming this fall:

A Day of Screenwriting with Paul Zeidman

October 10th • Historic IOOF Hall • Downtown Redding

Paul Zeidman is an award‑winning screenwriter and podcaster known for his practical, craft‑focused approach to storytelling. This workshop will cover the screenwriting process, industry insights, and hands‑on exercises to help writers strengthen their scripts.

Cost:

  • $25 for Writers Forum members
  • $35 for non‑members

Tickets will be available through EVENTBRITE, but member pricing is only available in person. To receive the discounted rate, please pay at the September meeting or arrange payment with a board member ahead of time.

Participants are encouraged to bring a sample of their screenplay, along with additional copies, to fully engage in the critique and writing exercises throughout the day.

We’re incredibly excited about the year ahead. Several engaging programs and guest presentations are already in the works, and we can’t wait to share them with you. The Writers Forum thrives because of its members — your creativity, your curiosity, and your willingness to show up for one another.
