February Meeting Photos

At our meeting in February Writers Forum members and guests learned some basics of screenwriting from George Winship and Sharon Owen.

George illustrates the importance of rise and fall within a script.

Sharon and George talked through tips of the trade and illustrated their points with contemporary movies and advice from the professionals.

Sharon imparts advice from her own experiences as well as the experiences of other professionals.

Steve Durkee, of Clarity Entertainment, rounded out the program with a question and answer time.  One piece of his advice was to keep the story at the heart of the script.  Another helpful hint was to speelcheck spellchek spellcheck your script thoroughly before submitting it.

Screenwriting Basics

At our February monthly meeting*, professional writing consultants George Winship and Sharon Owen will discuss what motion picture producers look for in a screenplay.  The speakers will cover screenwriting basics, from formatting the manuscript to story structure, and offer tips on how to pitch your project.

Writers will also hear about Clarity Entertainment, a film company coming to the Redding area looking for projects from local talent.  A representative from Clarity Studios (the soon-to-be movie studio in Stillwater Business Park) will be present.
