Redding Writers to Be on C-SPAN2

Be sure to set your DVRs to C-SPAN2 tomorrow morning, Saturday, May 6, at 9:00 AM Pacific time. C-SPAN2’s BookTV series visited Redding in January. Prior to the January Writers Forum meeting, the BookTV host interviewed Sharon Owen about the Writers Forum, and Steven Callan about his book, The Game Warden’s Son.

Also covered in the program will be the Shasta County Library Indian Collection, and the rare books and artifacts found at the Behrens-Eaton House.

The program will be repeated Sunday morning at 6:30 AM. Be sure to check your individual television service provider for station listings.

Let’s Go Virtual!

Howdy, everybody!

I’d like to take a minute to remind everybody of Writers Forum’s on-line presence.

Since you are reading this, you obviously know about our blog/website. What you might not know is that we are also active on Facebook. We will likely be even more active in the future on Facebook. There will be daily updates on things of interest to Redding area writers. I also believe it will be easier for members to interact with each other there.

On Sunday, I posted this pic:

…along with an invitation for others to post pics of their relaxing spots to write. Go ahead! Share away!

This morning I discovered that our friend Simon Wood, a thriller author who has given two popular and successful presentations to Writers Forum, has just sold Book #1,000,000. I shared that to the Writers Forum’s Facebook page.

While everything that appears here on the blog will post to the Facebook page, not everything from the Facebook page will appear here. It’s the different nature of the two sites.

I encourage everybody to go to the Facebook page, check it out, and get involved. Comment on posts. Post pics from your phone. Talk with each other!

And again, in case you missed it, here is how you get there…

See you there!

Member Monday Call for Submissions

Dear Writers Forum members,

Did your New Year’s resolutions include being more daring in your writing life and actually letting someone read some of the precious words you’ve scrawled in all of those notebooks?  Well, you’re in luck because Writers Forum is here to help you check that resolution off your list.

This year be brave and submit a piece for Member Monday.  We love to celebrate your talent and give you a little free publicity while we’re at it.  I’ve got quite a few Mondays in January and February just waiting for YOU.

So here’s what to do.  If you’re a Writers Forum member in good standing and would like to be featured on Member Monday, please send your submission to writersforumwebmaster@gmail.com. Submissions should be 75-750 words, appropriate for all ages and error free.

Please include a short bio, a headshot and any related links (like your author website, links to your books on Amazon, etc). Upon submission, the author retains all rights and gives permission to Writers Forum to publish their submission on the website and/or in the newsletter.

Thank you and happy writing!

Fondly,

Alicia, your devoted webmaster
