A Touch of Tech & NaNoWriMo
Writers Forum Newsletter Editor George Parker will provide a two-part presentation at our October 13 meeting. The first half will be an overview of ways to use technology to enhance your writing. This won’t just be a talking head presentation; George will actually demonstrate through our new computer display projector ways that you can use writing software and the Internet to make your writing job a little easier. We will take a look at the programs Word and Scrivener, and at writing and literary websites. George will also demonstrate ways that Writers Forum is moving into the tech world with the blog, Facebook, e-newsletter, and potentially…podcasting. The second half of the presentation will introduce you to NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month, which occurs every November. The goal of NaNoWriMo participants is to crank out a 50,000 word rough draft of a writing project in the month of November. Find out how they accomplish that goal, and how you can participate. Spoken Word night is the third Friday at 7:30. People can just come at 7:30 or a few minutes early and let Nadia, the hostess, know they wish to read. There is no advance sign up and no door fee, although we do gratefully accept donations. We have complimentary wine and coffee available for which we also accept donations. If you have further questions, best would be to give us your number and good times to call, and Nadia can call you back.
