Welcome back to Member Monday! In light of the approaching holiday, here’s a little love poem by Alicia McCauley.
It Wasn’t Love at First Sight
by Alicia McCauley
It wasn’t love at first sight.
It was the kind of love that slowly sheds its coat,
sends tenuous roots to explore.
It was love that grew over time
and in the warmth of him
I unfurled my leaves
and grew into the woman
I was meant to be.
It wasn’t love at first sight.
It was better.
It was love that gave me vision.
It was love from a boy
who grew into a man.
A man who saw me for who I was.
And loved me anyway.

Absolutely lovely, Alicia, and perfect for Valentine’s Day!!
Thanks, Linda. That means a lot coming from an accomplished poet such as yourself.
Loved it at first sight, er, read.
Thanks, Larry. 🙂
so pretty and epic in a sense.
my fav line was:
It was the kind of love that slowly sheds its coat,
conjures up great imagery in just that short poetic line.
Thank you, Jillian.
