This month’s jump line is:
Would it be wrong…?

It’s summer. The corn is high and tasseled. The tomatoes are full and round. It’s a blue moon month, two in one, and my heart aches to be full, too. To sing a gladdening song. But where are you? Where are you? Be safe, my love. Be safe.
Would it be wrong to just turn it all off? Every computer, every humming, beeping, power-hungry device that preoccupies my day? Perhaps I could trip the circuit breaker like that time I bought a new hedge trimmer and instantly sawed through the cord. Then we could just sit crosslegged on the floor and watch the shadows lengthen; then night would move in and fill our quiet house with a familiar mystery.
Would it be wrong if the people of the world decided to stand up on chairs and wave their hands in the air like they just don’t care? Would be nice to see, after all, because there aren’t enough chairs to go around and we’d have to share. Share the chairs, I like to say, so we can wave and cheer and share a good laugh. Laugh on a chair. Wave in the air. Would be fun to see.
Course it’s not gonna happen. Not literally, certainly, but also not metaphorically. Never has, never will, so just sit there and deal, right?
